The Elusive osceola

Osceola Turkey Hunting in Florida

Anyone who is in search of acquiring a Grand Slam must come through Florida to get their allusive Osceola.

Because of supply, demand, location and quantity, it is by far the most expensive bird of the four, but mark my word, well worth it.

There is nothing quite like going from the brown up North down to lush of central Florida in mid-March.

The Hunt

Our outfitter has several Ranches that are leased for Spring Osceolas. The largest is 5,000 acres with the smallest being 20 acres. Don’t be fooled, the 20 acres sits in the middle of an un-hunted 6,000 Ranch and would be my first choice to be on opening day.

The outfitter is the only hunter that is on any of his leases, they are all private, so the pressure is low and he allows only half of the toms that are known to be on the Ranch to be harvested, at most.

There are options for guided and unguided hunts, if you are interested in calling in your own Osceola gobbler this is one of the only outfitters in Florida offering a self guided turkey hunt on well managed private ground.
